1963年出生于吉林长春，1988年毕业于鲁迅美术学院雕塑系。

曾任东北师范大学美术学院雕塑系主任、东北师范大学美术学院院长、东北师范大学美术学院教授委员会主任、全国艺术专业学位研究生教育指导委员会美术与艺术设计专业分委会委员。

现为东北师范大学美术学院二级教授、博士生导师，东北师范大学公共艺术研究中心主任，中国城市雕塑家协会副主席，中国美术家协会雕塑艺术委员会副主任，全国城市雕塑建设指导委员会艺委会副主任，中国雕塑学会副会长、中国国家画院青年画院艺委会委员，英国皇家雕塑协会会员，中国艺术研究院雕塑院特聘雕塑家，长白山现代雕塑艺术研究院院长，长春城市雕塑学会副理事长，第十届全国美术作品展览雕塑展区组织委员会委员，十一届、十二届全国美展雕塑展览评委，2016年-2019年国家艺术基金评委，财政部政府采购评审专家。
