石墨，男，1962年出生于上海，现定居美国。师承海上名家张大壮、刘侃生和艺术家陈佩秋先生。曾任上海书画研究院画师、深圳文联艺术研究会副会长兼秘书长。国家一级美术师。现任美国加州石墨艺术中心艺术总监、加州大学石墨工作室教授、复旦大学上海视觉艺术学院教授、黑龙江大学兼职教授、上海市海外联谊会理事。
　　石墨将中国水墨与西方印象派技法相结合，独创“积墨法”，被西方艺术界誉为“新东方表现主义”代表人物。《风暴前夕》、《力量凝聚》、《达摩》 、《荷花系列》等多幅作品被美国加州首府会议中心和夸罗克艺术博物馆以及上海美术馆、宁波博物馆、深圳美术馆、黑龙江美术馆、亚洲艺术博物馆等永久收藏。作品《粉色诱惑》在中国嘉德2012年秋拍中以109.25万元成交、作品《芙蓉细语图》在上海崇源2012年秋拍中以57.5万元成交。即将完成创作三年之久的油画《美国河之晨》专为美国加州萨克拉门托国际机场定制。

　　Born in Shanghai, China in 1962, Shimo is one of the most prestigious and respected Chinese artists. Shimo immigrated to the United States in 2003 as an “artist of extraordinary talent” and settled in Sacramento, California.
　　He is a person of perfection in his art. He is a perfectionist in every aspect of his art until the work is being shown. As much as his art is appreciated, so is Shimo appreciated as a person. He has many admirers in China as well as in the U.S. Shimo believes an artist’s inspiration comes from life experience. His style of art blends traditional Chinese techniques with modern aesthetics. With a developed technique he calls “multilayer dripping ink,” he drips, stains, pours, and sometimes even mops the ink directly onto the canvas to create his beautiful paintings.
　　Shimo has a penchant for Lotus flowers and is a master of painting them. A traditional symbol in Chinese culture, the lotus flower denotes purity, holiness and peace, traits that Shimo models for himself as well as his art. Shimo pours his emotions into his Lotus flowers, and they are reflections of his soul. Shimo’s foray into painting swans earned him high accolades from the artistic community. The white swan, a universal symbol of loftiness and tranquility, is closely related to his beloved lotus flowers. His swans express a sense of harmony and perfection. Shimo wishes all people to live their life like the white swan, with inner peace and outward grace.
　　Shimo’s art pieces have been shown in many provinces in China that include Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Zhenjiang, and Beijing. His art has also made its way to Indonesia, Taiwan, and Japan. Abroad, Shimo’s art, so far, have been shown in Sacramento and New York. His works was also shown in auctions like Rongbao Auction, Beijing, Sotheby Auction, Hong Kong, Jiade Auction, Beijing, and Crocker Art Museum Auction.
Shimo’s latest adventure is making porcelain - melding the tradition of Chinese Blue and White porcelain with western expressionism in a 1400 degree kiln.
　　Everything is an empty canvas for Shimo. From paper, canvas, porcelain, and even in clothing he can create a work of art. Shimo believes an artist’s inspiration comes from life experience and an artist’s work can be applied to people’s daily life. With this in mind, he has painted a series onto dresses. On the human body, the beauty of his painting is vividly expressed. His continuing quest for new forms of expression sets him apart from a sea of contemporary Chinese artists.
　　Now he has set his roots in the artistic wonders of downtown Sacramento and has opened Shimo Center for the Arts where he shows his masterpieces and that of other amazing artists as well. Shimo’s desire is to help promote the growth of other artists and the growth of the art community.
