Li Xiaoke was born in Jin'gangpo, Chongqing, Sichuan Province on Dec 20, 1944;To finance his birth, his father Li Keran held a special exhibition of ink paintings in Chongqing; Chongqing became the rear area under KMT rule during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, where cultural relics of the Forbidden City, businesses and factories, cultural and educational institutions and people of various walks of life were gathered; Upon an invitation of Chen Zhifo in 1943, Li Keran served as a lecturer of Chinese Painting at Chongqing National Art College and lived together with Fu Baoshi and Lin Fengmian in Jin'gangpo of Chongqing;Later, he knew ZouPeizhu; In 1944, Li Keran was married with Ling Fengmian as the host;His son Xiaoke was born in the winter;

He joined the army;When he served at the No;4582 Army, Tangshan, he became a backbone worker, an advanced member of fine arts and an all-round soldier;He made outstanding achievements during his training as a new solider, in particular in rifle practice; A headline of People Daily once reported his story in a passage entitled "A Little Artist in Rifle Practice"; In 1962, Chiang Kai Shek "fought against the Mainland" and cross strait situation got tense, so the nation first recruited new soldiers from universities of art; Li Xiaoke and six other students who studied at Grade 2 of the Affiliated Middle School of China Central Academy of Fine Arts joined the army;During the army "huge contest" period, their training and discipline were rather stringent;

He assisted his father Li Keran to produce sketches and give lectures in Mt; Huangshan and Jiuhua, and began to follow his father to study landscape painting systematically; Everything recovered to normal gradually following the end of the "Cultural Revolution"; Li Keran planned to produce sketches in Mt;Huangshan and Jiulong and Zhangjiajie, and give lectures in Wuhan, but because of heart attack, his trip to Zhangjiajie was cancelled; During that period, Li Xiaoke produce lots of sketches which became a starting point for Li Xiaoke to be back to his ink painting career;
