Marie Woo
Marie Woo groundbreaking personal work, including vessels, sculptures, installations, and the creation of her signature and sought after glazes “Woo Blue” and “Woo Yellow,” achieve the often-elusive aspiration that drives many visual artists – honoring tradition while simultaneously pushing a form forward. Her work as a scholar, preservationist, curator, and educator have further influenced, sustained, and connected the field of ceramics.
Woo’s ceramics are of such arresting beauty and intriguing form that the pieces both catch the eye and hold the attention of heart and mind. As she notes and elegantly accomplishes in her work, “If you just let the clay take over, then the viewer takes a journey, too.”
Dan Murphy
I usually work in series, developing one body of work at a time. My goal is to make gestural vessels that reflect my presence in the finished form.?This results in families of pots that are inevitably related, yet each piece stands as a unique one-of-a-kind vessel. After the pieces are made most are fired without applied glazes to stoneware temperatures in wood-burning kilns.
Colors and textures on the ceramics result from the interaction of wood, fire and clay. My hope is that each successive generation produces a better piece. “ I feel a connection to contemporary as well as ancient ceramics, and strive to create objects that will withstand the test of time.”

Working with the earth through geologic and ceramic processes, I draw from the wealth of things made, things learned, and things valued to create both intuitively and with intent, both in relation to tradition and to the “has not yet been”.
Sharing my heart and soul through what I make brings me joy. My work is only completed when it finds a home in other peoples lives; their hands, their hearts, the spaces and rituals they create. I'm not nostalgic for another time or place, rather I want to participate in investing today's world with the wealth and value of hand made, rich and vital objects. These pots offer an invitation ?to regularly experience the wonder of being human; tangible in touching, eating and drinking, seeing, breathing, and nourishing ourselves with beauty.
